Apple Pencil 1

Installation Guide

NOTE: When installing The RulerWrap on the Apple Pencil Gen 1 you may prefer to trim the ends of the wrap for it to not cover the metal strip. We like the look of it covering the metal, but then again the choice is yours as it can still fit without any cuts being made.

Step 1 - Clean

Clean your stylus with a small amount of rubbing alcohol or water to remove any surface oils left from your hands. A small amount will not harm your device and it will help ensure the wrap adheres properly. It can also help to wash and dry your hands prior to installing as well.

Step 2 - Peel

Peel back one corner of the wrap and proceed to peel and fold the wrap's backing along the length of the wrap. Take your time here and do not touch the sticky side of the wrap.

Step 3 - Line 'em up

Visually line up both corners of the wrap parallel with your Apple Pencil. It may help to mark two points on your pencil where the wrap should line up. With both corners lined up correctly (but not touching yet), lightly stick the wrap's corner closest to the charging end of the stylus so that it can still be pivoted without stretching it. Then lightly press down the opposite exposed corner so that it is parallel with the direction of your stylus.

TIP: If you find that you've installed your RulerWrap too close to the tip of your Pencil, applying some heat to the wrap and simultaneously applying pressure to the wrap that is lifting can help the wrap contour the curved edge of the Pencil.

Step 4 - Stick

Press the sticker with a downward pressure, slowly pressing along the length of the wrap in sections as you curl around the stylus. Disperse your finger pressure as much as possible to avoid stretching or deforming the wrap. Press out any air bubbles section by section. We prefer to roll the stylus along a very flat surface and then press out any potential air pockets in 3mm increments to be safe.

Step 5 - Final touch

As you loop around your stylus, continue to look out for air pockets and gently push them out.

Once you've fully adhered the wrap to the stylus, do one final inspection of the wrap and ensure all air pockets are gone. You can try using your fingernail to help the transparent wrap to fully seat to your stylus. We like to give one more pass on all corners and edges to ensure adhesion is optimal in areas that may experience the most friction. Applying slight heat during this final step can help with adhesion, but is not necessary.

And you're done, great job! Now enjoy your convenient measuring device and let us know how it is.
